The awards celebrate our flourishing food scene, vibrant music scene, incredible live events and the individuals championing change in our city. From technology and hospitality to fashion and entertainment, hundreds of businesses and individuals either self-nominated or were put forward for recognition by others wanting to spotlight their achievements. There were also some extra special awards recognising individual achievements, including the Centenary Woman of the Year and the Supernova award.

Funds raised on the evening went towards the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Homelessness Fund. Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham kicked off the night with a speech about Manchesters history as a city of people who pioneer change. Andy said, “This is the place that looks after people,” thankful for the event’s supports of his commitment to end rough sleeping by 2020.

One woman who shares A-Magazine’s passion for shouting about how brilliant Manchester is is the founder of the This Is Manchester Awards, Ziara Siddique, MD of Elite Profile Agency. Ziara dreamt up the awards four years ago and has worked hard since then to bring her vision to life and give Manchester the credit it deserves. Ziara said: “As a proud Mancunian I’ve been lucky to work with many high-profile individuals within sports, music and industry all of whom wax lyrical about how amazing Manchester is and how proud they are to be representing Manchester on a global scale. It was time to shine a spotlight on all this great work and celebrate their achievements.”
