The Best Ways to Start and End Your Summer Days in Manchester

Make the most of these long hot summer days and take a look at what Manchester has to offer this season. Start your summer days right with our rundown of the best things to do in this scorching heat.

For your days….

Salford Quays Open SwimmingDock 9, MediaCityUK, M50 3AZ

Take the ultimate cool down and go for a refreshing dip in Salford Quays. ÜSwim organise sessions every Saturday Morning (and Wednesday evenings for those who aren’t so keen on an early start) with different length swim courses at their World Class Dock 9 venue.

Alfresco Breakfast at the Cosy Club | M4 3TR

Take an outdoor seat at the Cosy Club and cast your eyes across their brunch menu and relax as you watch the busy passersby, smug in the knowledge that you have nowhere to rush to and can spend the morning leisurely tucking into your Triple-Stacked Buttermilk Pancakes. Yum.

Sunrise Yoga

| Manchester Yoga & Holistic Central, Trafford Wharf Rd, Stretford, M17 1AB

Alleged to be the “divine time” when one’s spiritual energy is at its peak, start your day at 7am with some sunrise yoga. This class, which takes place every Wednesday, combines smooth flow yoga and a relaxed traditional hatha yoga to help you find your zen for the rest of the day.

For your evenings….

Luna Cinema at Tatton Park | Mereheath Dr, Knutsford WA16 6QN

Travel out of the bustle of the city centre and to Tatton Park where you can watch your favourite films under the stars. During the course of this scorching summer, Luna Cinema is hosting three nights of classic and modern films on the beautiful Tatton estate. You can watch The Goonies, Pretty Woman and Paddington 2 on the big screen again next month for a truly unforgettable cinematic experience. Luna Cinema will also be serving food and drink on each night to accompany your film. Let’s hope this sun holds out until August!

Spend an evening in some of our beautiful parks

We’re so lucky here in Manchester to have some beautiful, historic parks so close to the city centre. Peel Park in Salford is one of the oldest public parks in the country and has recently gone under a £2.5 million refurbishment; it’s the perfect place to take a picnic and spend the evening watching the sun go down just out of reach of the business of the city centre.

Get Ice-Cream at Ginger’s Comfort Emporium |Afflecks, Church St, M4 1PW

What was once a humble artisan ice-cream van is now a fully fledged ice cream parlour in the heart of the Northern Quarter. Venture into Ginger’s Comfort Emporium out of the sun after a day of shopping and enjoy some delicious sweet treats. With vegan recipes and ice-cream concoctions our imaginations could never fathom, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
