Hold tight, Manchester! It’s time to get ahold of some spicy nostalgia this Summer. Get out your retro sportswear and dad trainers because the Spice Girls are back to remind us to ‘Never Give Up on the Good Times’.
But seriously, there is a Spice Girls exhibition this summer that showcases thousands of items of memorabilia from the most iconic girl group ever.
After the huge success and popularity of the exhibition’s run in London, it only made sense to bring it to our city and to continue this celebration of The Spice Girls for all you Wannabe’s.
The curator of the event, Alan Smith-Allison, said: “The biggest music exhibition ever has just become the biggest touring music exhibition ever! Hold onto your knickers, Manchester, Girl Power is coming at you!”.
Expect unusual and rare merchandise collected from around the globe on display alongside unforgettable costumes worn by the girls themselves. A good chunk of this merchandise comes from Manchester’s own, Liz West, the Guinness World Record Holder for her Spice Girl memorabilia collection. She has collected over 5000 individual pieces including branded crisp packets, clocks and one of Mel B’s own jackets.
Get your picture taken next to the newly restored Spice Bus from the 1999 blockbuster Spice World: The Movie which will be proudly on display outside the convention centre.
The fun might have ended at Manchester Central Convention Centre, however, it has extended its run in the city and settled in at the Great Northern until the end of September. Entry is £10 with student and OAP concessions available. Under 12s are free.
