The future of high street banking has arrived in Manchester.
You might have been wondered what’s been going behind those boards on Market Street. The answer has at last been revealed. Manchester now has a new destination to learn, work and bank called B Works. The new creative space is the home of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank’s digital banking service B.
If the idea of visiting your high street bank fills you with finance fear then B Works just might give you some light relief. The three-storey site is fit for retail, SMEs and corporate lending. B Works brings together a relaxed atmosphere and staff with diverse backgrounds, from ex-cabin crew to a Zumba teacher, to shake up the way we interact in banks and how we feel about our finances.
B Works is full of free in-house facilities for Manchester to make the most of. Grab a desk and catch up on your emails or use their camera and lighting equipment to whip up some fresh content.
Manchester – we've arrived! Welcome to #BWorks, We can’t wait to show you what we have in store. What're you waiting for? Come say hello at 48-50 Market Street! #BManchester pic.twitter.com/EbqWCBNvtP

What’s happening at B Works?
B Social Studio
The Studio is the perfect place for SMEs and consumers to build their online presence and sharpen their social media skills. Who else could head this but Steve Bartlett, CEO of Social Chain and one of AMAGAZINE’s 10 Most Influential Mancunians.
From fitness classes, to movie screenings and panel sessions, B Works has a lot in store for Manchester. Look out for events and guest talks for SMEs and local consumers to help give Manchester businesses the boost it deserves. Boohoo will give sessions at the Market Street hub, along with Freeformers offering digital skills workshops and pro-manchester‘s SME Club events.
Combining banking with a yoga session sounds like a friendlier way to manage your finances. B Works know that financial wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing. That’s why they’re offering us yoga and Zumba to keep us fighting fit.
With bookable meeting rooms, hot desks and longer term co-working desks, charging points and free Wi-Fi, B Works provides a space for people to meet, work, grow their business and learn from local, like-minded SMEs and business experts.
Forget stuffy suits and banking jargon, B Works’ new-look team are here to offer financial help and advice without the old-fashioned clichés (finally!).
Free coffee all day. Need we say more? The idea is all part of making the high street bank a more casual environment.
B Works is encouraging us to see our high street banks as a space we want to visit (rather than dread setting foot in). With B stores already in London and Birmingham, B Works is proving that traditional high street banking is out of date for how we live today. As more of us choose to bank digitally, it’s only right to shake up our in-store experience too.
