First Look at New Ancoats Restaurant, The Counter House

Find out what healthy goodness new restaurant The Counter House has in store for Manchester

Coming to Ancoats’ booming Cutting Room Square is The Counter House. The new restaurant will arrive just in time to remedy our inevitable Christmas over-indulgences with their health-led menu.  

Getting us BACK on the straight and narrow this January, The Counter House is all about being good to yourself. Kickstart your health kick with nourishing dishes and a dose of much-loved comfort classics. Get ready to tuck into the likes of plant-based Acai Bowls; Eggs Royale with white tea smoked salmon and baked avocado wedges; and Feta and Charred Baby Gem salad. Save room for dessert with Ricotta Pancakes with a berry compote and toasted almonds on offer. 

At the bar, choose from smoothies, wellness shots and cold press juices. To make up for those Christmas sins, try ‘The Allotment’ juice – apple, carrot, cucumber, spinach, kale, tomato, celery, parsley, beetroot, lemon and ginger. Not just for healthy goodies, there are also some very of-the-moment cocktails on offer like ‘It’s Complicated’ with vodka, Grand Marnier, carrot juice, blood orange juice and honey.

Thanks to a £750,000 investment from Manchesters Behind The Counter, the Ancoats restaurant in coming to life with Panacea owner Joe Akka at the helm. The 62-cover restaurant features an open kitchen headed up by Jan Cron, who trained in the Michelin starred Alcron restaurant in Prague before working as a private chef and nutritional advisor across the UK.

The Counter House has been designed with the planet in mind. Eco-friendly choices have been made by design studio Shed, including recycled and reclaimed furnishings that make for a warm, neighbourhood vibe. 

The Counter House is set to open its doors on 25th January.
