Old-school New York meets Manchester at Hotel Brooklyn
Following the success of the five-star Hotel Gotham on King Street, Bespoke Hotels are continuing their investment in Manchester, this time taking us back to New York’s Golden Age with sister venue, Hotel Brooklyn.
Helping put some of the many cranes on our city’s skyline, Bespoke Hotels £45-million investment sees Hotel Brooklyn be an entirely new build. The 191-room boutique hotel will sit on Portland Street, beside luxurious neighbour, the Grade II listed Townhouse Hotel, now owned by Hotel Gotham.
As with Hotel Gotham, Squid Inc. are taking the lead on the hotel’s interiors and we can expect something just as stunning as its King Street sister’s much-loved Art Deco design. Whilst Hotel Gotham nodded to its building’s past as a bank with ‘gold bars’ in the guest rooms and suited-and-booted bellboys on the door, as a new build, the possibilities for Hotel Brooklyn are wide open.
New plans promise a look as distinctive as Hotel Gotham with décor inspired by Brooklyn’s vibrant heritage: combining a little bit of New York splendour with a Manchester edge, expect vintage floor tiling, a muted colour scheme and, of course, exposed brickwork.
We can already see ourselves enjoying a slice of New York, sipping cocktails in Hotel Brooklyn’s panoramic rooftop bar, Brooklyn Heights, and tucking into some American comfort food at restaurant, Runyon’s.
Chairman of Bespoke Hotels, Robin Sheppard says Hotel Brooklyn “isn’t merely offering a bed for the night, but rather access to a hub of untamed, creative energy, flanked on all sides by the city’s dynamic nightlife and glamour.”
Work is now underway on the project, but you’ll have to wait until 2020 when doors are set to open to get your dose of New York at Hotel Brooklyn.
Hotel Brooklyn is set to open in spring 2020.
