El Gato Negro’s Simon Shaw brings his new Portuguese restaurant to Manchester.
We all know that Manchester is bursting with Spanish dining options from Deansgate to the Northern Quarter. Over the last two years, Simon Shaw has established El Gato Negro as a powerhouse on the Spanish food scene. Now, Simon has taken on a new challenge: transporting the Portuguese palette to Manchester with Canto.
The booming Ancoats Cutting Room Square area has become home to Canto, sitting alongside the likes of Sugo and Rudy’s Pizza. Shaw has enlisted the help of Carlos Gomes, current head chef at El Gato Negro, to bring a taste of Portugal to Manchester.
Drawing on his upbringing in Porto, Gomes has created Canto’s menu. Get ready to experience the relaxed feel of Portugal’s neighbourhood restaurants, along with some top-notch food as Canto’s Portuguese dining arrives!
