Claudia Mirallegro, at Mirallegro Yoga, is Manchesters renowned yoga teacher. But more than that, her students see her as a motivational coach. She teaches creative and expressive sequences that are not only challenging but allow you to really connect with yourself.
Manchester is filled with so much goodness, but above all, there’s a real sense of community here.
What’s your most significant accomplishment to date?
Taking the leap. I completed my Yoga teacher training at the end of 2015. I began teaching yoga in 2017 and now, here we are in 2018 where you can find me teaching, blogging, creating and inspiring people to be their happiest selves! I guess 2016 can be called my fear year. Fear is uncomfortable. But you have to embrace those feelings of being uncomfortable. Those feelings are usually right before the magic happens. Running with it and ‘taking the leap’ was the best thing I ever did. I’ve now managed to turn something that set’s my soul on fire into a career & to work at something that you truly, truly believe, well that’s the dream.
Who/what inspires you?
There are lots of people around me that inspire me and have made me who I am today. My friends and family, my students and my teachers. I always remember what got me hooked on yoga in the first place. It wasn’t about the physical benefits or trying to achieve any certain postures or anything like that, it was the little nuggets of inspiration that my teachers gave to me. I remember thinking that I want to give the same to my students, to make them feel what I felt, to make them feel inspired and to make them feel happy!
How has living/working in Manchester helped you achieve your goals?
Manchester is filled with so much goodness, but above all, there’s a real sense of community here. There’s a northern way of doing things. We like to help each other grow. To encourage one another. To build each other up. It’s amazing what we can achieve when we all support each other. I’m so thankful for this community, because of it I’m able to live my passion. So thank you. I certainly feel the love and support – I hope you all feel it BACK.
What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
Be kind to yourself. Don’t care what anyone else thinks. You don’t need to fit in, in fact, please don’t; stand out. Question everything and stay curious. Life is meant to be enjoyed; it goes by quickly so be present. Look for the magic and love in every situation. The more you seek it, the more you will find it. Give more hugs and take deeper breaths. And most of all, remind yourself daily that you are enough. You are magical. You are loved.
What are your business goals for 2018?
I’m on a mission to help as many people as possible live their happiest lives. I’ll be bringing more yoga classes, workshops and retreats your way. Whilst building an empowering and uplifting community online, that is 100% transparent. As well as fronting meaningful campaigns that BACK my core values. I know this is just the beginning of an incredible journey, there is still so much to learn, a lot to shred, and even more to gain.
Where do you see yourself in twenty years’ time?
Owning, running and teaching at my own Yoga Studio. BeeYoga (inspired by the Manchester Worker Bee) is a yoga studio in the heart of Manchester. We have three unique studios, each with white bare brick walls, real strands of ivy entwined in the ceilings and original cast-iron pillars. The design concept filters through to our spacious showers and changing room facilities and to our organic café. We can’t wait to show Manchester the incredible, life-changing things that happen when you root an intensely physical workout in the mindfulness of yoga.
