A-Magazine’s Umbrella Ball 2018
Stars of The Real Housewives of Cheshire, Hollyoaks, Love Island and more stunned on the red carpet on Saturday 7th July at the 5-star Radisson Blu Edwardian to show their support for our chosen charities.
Thanks to England’s win and the glorious sunshine, Manchester’s famous faces and successful business people arrived in high spirits, ready to come together and do their part for two incredible charities.
The Real Housewives’s Dawn Ward, Love Island‘s Alex Beattie, and Hollyoaks‘s Gemma Merna joined A-Magazine to show their support for the Manchester charities, along with Manchester businesses: MSC Building Contractors, Pomegranate Consulting, Methods, Touched Interiors and Pin iT.
Amazing entertainment gave the evening the signature A-touch that had people smiling, laughing, dancing, and digging deep for our chosen charities.

Darby Ward kicked off the evening, performing an incredible acoustic set as her sister Taylor Ward and mum Dawn Ward watched with pride.
Our guests heard about the life-saving work both charities do for Manchester’s children and young people. Penny Hamer from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity shared the benefits of the iMRI Scanner Appeal, and you couldn’t hear a pin drop as Coleen Quinn, patient ambassador for Kidscan, shared her moving experience of childhood cancer and just why advances in treatment are so vital.
Even the likes of Amy Katrianne became teary-eyed during the charities’ short films about the important work they do for Manchester’s children.
Did he pick up my glass slipper orrrr? 👑 – We attended the @umbrellaball last night to raise money for @kidscan_uk @rmchcharityevents . If anyone would like to donate head over to their pages ❤️ the videos they shared really touched Home 😢 so sad what some children and families have to go through… 💔
During dessert, we were given a real sweet treat by comedian Allyson June Smith who had us loving every minute of her standup!
Oh, and we can’t forget the appearance of our A-list celebrity Humphry – Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity adorable mascot.
The event brought the best of Manchester together; it was great to see so many people celebrating and coming away with new connections.
A quick game of ‘heads and tails’ got everyone up and out of their seats for the chance to win Ted Baker goodies!
This amazing original oil painting by @smcpainting of Manchester's skyline as seen from @20storiesmcr is now up for auction in aid of @rmchcharityevents and @kidscan_uk. The evening ran smoothly thanks to Darren Proctor. He got the crowd excited as he drew the luxury prize draw, handing out amazing prizes including a 5-star trip to St. Lucia and a Simba mattress.
The night ended with an epic set of Manchester dancefloor fillers from the one and only Clint Boon. Taking us back to the 90s, Boon showed us how you ‘Can’t Keep a Good Man Down’ as we all shot to our feet and hit the dancefloor.
The Umbrella Ball 2018 was a night to remember that brought everyone from Manchester and beyond together for two great causes. We’re looking forward to 2019’s Umbrella Ball already, but if you didn’t make this one you can still support the charities by purchasing an umbrella ball pin badge here!
