A stay at Nobu Shoreditch is about getting a bit naughty not getting Zen. A-Magazine reviews the latest hotel to hit the London “it’ scene.

“A stay at is about getting a bit naughty not getting Zen”

Beginning life as a Japanese and Latin-inspired restaurant in 1987, Nobu has grown to become one of the most popular global dining destinations and now/today has its very own hotel concept. Amidst the beloved grit and grime of Shoreditch’s streets stands the latest venture from the Nobu empire. Not the obvious London location, the area between Old Street and Brick Lane is now home to this almost extra-terrestrial offering. Sexy and mysterious – the spaceship-esque building houses 148 Japanese-inspired guestrooms and suites.

The Buzz

We know that reservations at Nobu are notoriously difficult to come by, but can this top revered restaurant create the same pull for overnight stays?

Best For

Couples that want a sexy weekend away in the big city should head here. It’s the perfect hub for everything Shoreditch has to offer: grab dinner at Nobu before going to Shoreditch House for cocktails and views of the city, then get down and dirty at one of Shoreditch’s wonderfully grimy parties.

Unlike the expansive lobbies we’re used to that give you a glimpse of what to expect from your stay, Nobu Shoreditch has opted to keep things under wraps. Sleek lines and dimmed lighting create a sense of mystery here. Guests have to venture down a gold staircase to reach the 240-cover basement restaurant that includes a lounge bar, outdoor courtyard and, of course, a sushi counter. At the weekend, Nobu Shoreditch is all about bottomless brunch. As the first Nobu in London to offer breakfast, a visit here is only complete by tucking into some delicious little surprises on the fine-dining buffet and sipping on bottomless prosecco (and soft drinks but who cares about that?) for £75. Brunch here is perfect for chatting with friends about last night’s antics whilst small plates come out at steady intervals making for a tasty break in the conversation. And don’t forget our A-Mag top tip: round off your meal with a Nobu margarita. You won’t regret it!

During your stay, it’s only right to re-energise with a visit to The Nobu Spa. If you’re after total relaxation, we recommend the signature Nobu Zen treatment: you’ll be stretched and massaged into total bliss using A-Mag favourite – Natura Bissé products.

The Verdict

Despite its oriental origins, a stay at Nobu is about getting a bit naughty not getting Zen. Nobu’s sleek lines and ultra-modern design form the new face of Shoreditch without taking away from the much-loved mix of grimy clubs and glossy restaurants that the area is famed for.
