What’s your most significant accomplishment to date?
Probably when we created the top most engaged live stream by a brand ever, accumulating 2.4million comments in 2 hours. I’ve still got a great relationship with the guys at The Sole Supplier and that was the start of something special.
The accomplishment I have the fondest memory of is when we won our first big award at Social Chain. We were still a very young agency at the time and were up against some really big and talented competition. Not in a million years did we think we would win. There were a few of us in the office late at night when we got the notification through Twitter and we just couldn’t believe it. I really believe that being able to share that experience with some of your closest friends is extremely special.
What inspires you?
I’ve been surrounded by some extremely special people and I got to learn first hand from their successes and mistakes. Working with the likes of Steve Bartlett really taught me a lot about work and life. Since I started TWH Media I’ve worked with some ridiculously talented people across PR, Social, Design, Photography and watching them work on their craft has been really inspiring.
I’m also a huge sports fan and being able to take learnings from teams and athletes can be very inspiring.
How has working in Manchester helped you achieve your goals?
The city is home to some of the biggest and best social-first companies in the world, so being able to connect with like-minded people and work on exciting projects is what motivates me and Manchester has that in abundance.
Having spent a lot of time between London and New York I really think that the balance and quality of life you can have in Manchester is pretty special. It’s just a shame about the weather.
What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
Hard work pays off and continue to put yourself in the best position to be successful. Oh… and invest in crypto early.
What are your business goals for 2018?
For me, it’s really about executing at a high level. I’m working with three amazing companies to help them raise in q2/q3 and if we are able to do that I’ll be really pleased. I really enjoy working on great projects with great people and having the opportunity to do that makes me very happy.
Working with different brands and start-ups is a lot of fun and success is different for each. For TWH Media I think being able to further diversify our income is something I’m aiming towards. Trying to get more of a mix of retainer work, consultancy work, project work and paid talks is my internal target.
Where do you see yourself in twenty years’ time?
A lot can change in that time, but I hope I’m still working with great brands on things I’m passionate about. Being able to make a difference and leave a legacy would be very cool. However, I’ve no idea what that looks like.
Without getting too cringey… I think having the opportunity to raise children and give them a great quality of life would be really amazing. I’ll be very happy if I still have the flexibility to enjoy my work as well as balance a home life. Oh, and get more sunshine.
