‘’After graduation from The University of Sheffield in 2013, where he studied Physical Geography, Sam moved to London, to start his career in the property sector. Having committed to the clean-shaven corporate life as a Senior Manager for a major Estate Agency based out of Westminster for five years he recently gave up the suit and tie look to pioneer a new breed of estate agents, one that people will actually like. Sam co-founded Settio in 2017 with his partner Chris Parsonage, who’s based in Singapore, and they’re excited to mix things up in the property industry. Outside of work Sam enjoys a game of squash or a night in with some vino and a board game’’
“Moving from London I had low expectations to be honest, but I’m pleased to say I was wrong.”
What’s your most significant accomplishment to date?
In 2016 I climbed Kilimanjaro and raised a large amount for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital which was incredible but personally I’m most proud of choosing to leave my London lifestyle and co-found Settio last year with my business partner Chris.
Who/what inspires you?
Creating change for the better. Whether that be revolutionising a boring industry like we aim to do with Settio or seeing the result of charitable work on your doorstep first hand.
People who start with very little, or nothing at all, and prove that you can achieve anything you put your mind to inspire me to succeed.
How has living/working in Manchester helped you achieve your goals?
I have only been living here full time for a few months and I have already fallen in love with the City. Moving from London I had low expectations to be honest, but I’m pleased to say I was wrong. It’s a friendly city full of collaborative forward-thinking business that have welcomed us as individuals and as a new business into their network.
What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
Seek out and listen to the experience of others but have faith in your own ideas and opinions. Just because you’re young, it doesn’t mean you’re wrong.
What are your business goals for 2018?
This year we’re excited about growing our brand through Manchester and securing ‘recommended agent’ status from a couple of large-scale residential developers. I also want to see our Settio Community initiative take off so we can, in turn, support a greater number of local charities.
Where do you see yourself in twenty years’ time?
I don’t know. I think if I had a 20-year plan, the next 20 years would be boring.
